The ONLY Reason Why You Feel Stuck Right Now

Do you ever wonder why things are the way they are?

Or even why people treat you a certain way? And maybe even why your financial position is the way it is right now?

Perhaps you've been asking these questions for a long time and have not found an adequate resolution.

Many people tend to just put up with things. They say, "It is what it is" and move on with their lives. They settle for less than best. They tolerate mediocrity.

The only way to get more in your life is to not tolerate mediocrity in your life.

Let me relay a story that changed my life.

Once upon a time, I used to work out at a popular gym that was reasonable maintained. However, there were certain elements that were never attended to.

One of them was the water fountain.

There were actually two of them. The taller one and the shorter one, which both sat adjacent to each other. The only problem was that the taller fountain was unusable because of its weak stream. The shorter fountain flowed cool refreshing water in a beautiful loop.

Of course, many people, including myself brushed it off like it was no big deal. We all just bent over and drank at the smaller one, which was below the average man's waist. In short, we settled for less than best.

This became an irritation to me, especially after the 5th year of dealing with the issue. Surprisingly, I never thought about it until that very year. I asked myself, "What can I do to fix this?"

Next, I simply asked the maintenance man at the gym to fix the problem. The next day, it was completely fixed. Everyone was now able to drink out of the taller fountain. I applied only minimal effort (but it still took 5 years).

Indeed, I remained anonymous in my endeavor, but I heard the rejoicing from dozens of gym patrons, "Finally, they fixed that stinkin' fountain" or "Man, I'm glad I don't have to bend down like a kid again" were very common remarks of alleviation.

I couldn't tell you how many times I've put up with shoddiness and other minor irritations in my life: Mislabeled folders, noisy neighbors, disorganized libraries, pens with no ink, broken windshield wipers, chipped cups, and so forth.

These little disturbances, however infinitesimal, can diminish your peace of mind. Without dealing with them directly, you could lose much of your self-esteem and end up relegating yourself to a lower stature in life.

If you want things to change, you must change. -Jim Rohn

Many of us settle for less in life. We put up with little things for years without doing anything about it. Do yourself a favor and keep a journal of how many things you've been settling for and ask yourself why.

You'll find that there is no reason.

As for people, and the way they treat us, we do the same. We tend to think that certain people can continually make us feel guilty. Perhaps they tend to make us feel inferior. They possibly play with our emotions and sometimes threaten us.

There's a lot of games that people play. Like I said before, you've tolerated it for too long. The key is that we teach people how to treat us. If you want to be treated a better way, you have to demand respect. If not, keep doing what you're doing.

If you want more money, you have to demand a higher income by becoming a highly skilled and indispensable person. If you want to be around better people and places, you've got to make an extra effort to get to that position.

The only reason why you aren't doing it is because other people aren't doing it. You've got to stand out and do something that you've never done before, even if it's not your job.

You've got to think in a whole new way. Don't just look for approval or wait for the next person to do it. No one will do it for you. YOU DO IT!

Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country. -John F. Kennedy

Truly, you get what you tolerate. What do you tolerate? Is it good enough or can you do better? It's time to make a move and think bigger thoughts. No excuses or justifications can hold you back any longer.

You can't afford to tolerate less than best. Only go for the best from now.
