How to Succeed in Your Career as a Christian

I had my encounter with Jesus Christ in February of 2012. It was epic.

My friend had called me a dozen times as I waited in front of his house with my little black Volkswagen Beetle. I didn't want to go in.

Every night, I would go into his house and smoke weed. I would inhale a half-pack of cigarettes and curse our old high school friends. It was pure treachery.

I knew I was doing wrong, but I couldn't help myself. I was in love with negativity. However, this time was different. I had a deep inclination to pray.

"God, please take me away from this situation. Please help me change my life."

After I uttered those words, I had the ambition to go back home. It wasn't hard since there was a Spirit that led me. Without the Spirit, I would have succumbed to another night of misery. All I had to do was ask Jesus Christ to come into my heart and change my life.

Since that time, I've had the Spirit. The Christians call it the Holy Spirit. This Spirit gives you an unprecedented power that allows you to do what seems impossible.

Over the last 3.5 years, I've been able to walk in that Spirit. It's the same Spirit that allowed the Master Teacher to turn water into wine. It also helped Him change the world, despite dying on the cross at age 33.

His name is Jesus Christ and He never sinned (1 Peter 2:22-23).

I often hear people professing themselves as Christians, yet they don't always look successful. In fact, some of them look like they could use this Spirit that I was talking about.

Real believers get on their knees everyday to give King Jesus a good praising. They also live in their Bible and proclaim the Word of God everywhere they go.

To succeed in your career as a Christian, you have to allow the Spirit to take control of your life. For the Christian, every day is unpredictable--more unpredictable then that of the heathen.

You must apply the Scriptures daily and make it real in your life. Never wake up without embracing what the Bible teaches. Use the Bible as your pillow. Post Scriptures everywhere in your office and home (Proverbs 7:3). Don't worry about what others think. Memorize them as best as possible.

Ephesians 6:12-18 states that we must wear God's armor all of the time. We shall pray ceaselessly. You might want to recite these verses in prayer for the next 30 days. It helps in the daily war.

You must also have faith in your fellows. You've got to understand that 1 Timothy 2:1-5 says that you must know that God has plans to save all people, even the ones that persecute you.

I think the one that helps me the most is Matthew 7:7. In your career, you've got to ask, seek, and knock. I like to remember it in this acrostic: ASK--Ask, Seek, Knock. God makes it so easy.

Some Christians even forget the major premise of what God has promised, unless they read the 13th chapter of 1st Corinthians (1st Corinthians 13). Yes, love always wins in the end. That's also what John 3:16 is about.

You must remain on top of all of your daily affairs, but the main goal is to carry the cross. If you find that it's too heavy, you must call upon your Lord, Jesus the Messiah, and ask for His help (Romans 8:26).

His Spirit is willing to give you more than you are willing to ask (James 1: 5-8).

As I depart, I must remind you that you will not always be liked. The world hated Jesus, so expect your trial (John 15:18). Just continue to pray and obey. In due time, you'll end up winning in your career.
