You don't need a college degree to hit the six-figure mark.
With over 50,000 occupations, there are many options to choose from. If you've ever considered a higher-paying job, look no further. These are actual industries that I've personally worked for, so now you know you're getting a real perspective.
1. Real Estate: Whether you want to be a broker or an agent, the sky is the limit when it comes to selling and owning real estate. While it may take several weeks to get your real estate license, you can work at almost any real estate company in your area and start listing houses immediately. If you're patient, selling real estate might be the perfect fit for you.
Selling real estate, however, is not for the faint-hearted. You're going to need to show at least 100 houses before you make your first sale. Moreover, the best part about making the sale is that you get a fairly high commission. For instance, if you sold a $500,000 home with a 3% commission, you better prepare to cash a $15,000 check. An even higher income is possible if you build your own real estate team!
2. Life Insurance: There are two main types of life insurance: term-life and whole life. Although selling life insurance can be a highly lucrative career, you’ll need to study and pass the insurance exam to get your license. Depending on the company you work for, you can sell a variety of products and build a portfolio of clients.
Since life insurance isn't a top priority for most people, you must fully believe in your product. Because you’ll be talking about life and death, you must demand your prospects' attention during face-to-face meetings. Most people won't buy life insurance on your first visit, so this means you'll need to be persistent before you make a transaction. However, once you make the sale, it can be worth several hundred dollars.
3. Car Sales: Selling cars is tough: long hours (50+ hours weekly), stiff competition, negative industry reputation, picky buyers, and much more. However, if you love cars and are willing to help people find the right vehicle, you can be successful. A good car salesperson can earn over six-figures a year if you're in it to win it.
Realistically, you could sell at least a car every day, which can be worth hundreds of dollars a sale. If you cultivate referrals and repeat business, or even become a sales manager, you can make $100,000-$1,000,000 per year. Yes, you can become a millionaire by selling cars if you are willing to put in the work. Consider selling cars as a career if you love people and vehicles.
4. High-End Retail: There are many retail stores that can give you an annual salary of $100,000. However, before I get into more of the pros, let me share the cons of working in retail: working on holidays and weekends, standing on your feet all day, dealing with highly competitive co-workers, long hours without breaks. In fact, in many cases, you might even be called into work on your day off!
Now that we've covered the perils, let's discuss the virtues. If you secure a job at a jewelry store, home decor store, clothing store, art gallery, fur store, or any other kind of fancy boutique, you can learn how to give your clients a delightful experiences. Sometimes it's a challenge to find and obtain these jobs, but if you can, it will be worth the effort!
5. Door-to-Door: Truthfully, door-to-door sales is the hardest career on this list.Because of the unpredictable weather, immense rejection from prospects, and endurance required of your body, it's not something I would recommend for the next forty years of your life. However, if you're energetic and can spend a few years pitching a product or service door-to-door, it can be rewarding.
Whether you're selling cable for television, fundraising, or selling cookies, there will be great experiences while selling door-to-door. You'll meet the most fascinating people and discover new truths about yourself and the world. What's more? You can build a sales team to help you earn a higher income, which will allow you to sit in the office. It's a great option if you have a good product to sell and a great story to tell.
6. Inside Sales: If you're not too adventurous, you might want to consider inside sales. This means that you'll be in a remote office location to sell your product or service. This can mean that you work with online leads, personal visits, or phone leads. Some jobs may include: gym memberships, cell phones, financial assets, clothes, books, courses, and much more. By the way, it's VERY easy to get an inside sales job.
The best part about inside sales is that you can earn a large commission without exerting too much physical energy. The worst part about it is that you can get fired instantly if your performance doesn't meet your employers' expectations. However, many inside sales reps can move from job-to-job because of the nature of the business. If you love to sell a variety of products to a multitude of people, inside sales might be perfect for you.
7. Entrepreneurship: If you are familiar with me, I run a multi-million dollar business and highly advocate entrepreneurship. There's no other way to create the lifestyle of your dreams while helping many people along the way. However, not everyone is cut out to be an entrepreneur. Only 10% of the world are entrepreneurs and only a small fraction of them earn over $100,000 per year.
However, if you're hungry enough to start a business, there are many opportunities. Before you begin, make sure you gain the proper business education. Many people fall into scams and traps that leave them hopeless and dejected. Be sure to study successful entrepreneurs and hire a solid business coach who can help you gain clarity on your goals. If you do it right, you can grow a prosperous business and surpass your wildest financial dreams.
All of these careers take commitment and focus. If you're just doing it for the money, you won't be successful in these fields. However, if you have a servant's heart and are willing to go the extra mile to learn about yourself and your business, you will be able to gain a six-figure income before you can imagine!
