The Habit That Changed My Life

Every day, we all partake in certain habits that perpetuate our growth. Our routines are simple and often ineluctable. We tend to do them unconsciously.

Then there are the habits that we are highly conscious of. We consciously undertake them as they help us to create freedom in our minds. For some, it may be writing, gardening, cooking, or working out.

Some of these habits will be with us for the rest of our lives. They are so ingrained into our daily patterns that it wouldn't feel right if we went to bed without it.

The habit that I'm talking about that changed my life is reading the Bible. Not only do I read the Bible everyday, but I find someone to discuss it's precepts to make it more relatable in my life. I cannot go a day without this kind of spiritual medicine.

This composition of 66 books have changed my life. I have found that there is no greater teacher in tangible form. The 40 plus authors that has contributed to the compilation of books surpass the wisdom of any other book that I've read.

I can read one book of 300 pages, but the Bible can teach me more in a verse or a chapter. Last night, I read 1st Corinthians 1 and 2 and learned so much about the world and what I am to do. It took me 10 minutes to read, but it made me think all day.

One day, I was randomly working out at the gym and a man approached me because he heard me talking about this great book. He told me that BIBLE stands for Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. He's right, everything we need is in this marvelous book. I chuckled away and never forgot his message.

Another client of mine told me that he was reflecting on the Word of God (the Bible) and he said that God told him directly that he only needed to do two things in life: Pray and Obey. That's all we have to do!

I was even surprised when a homeless man, who was clearly inspired by God, came up to me when I was visiting Chinatown in Washington DC. I judged him at first, but then listened closely because of the spirit he emitted. His words changed my life.

He told me about a clear vision of myself that was larger than I can conceive. A fraction of what he said is happening today. This was 3 years ago. His encounter helped me make a life decision. God uses everybody.

Along with my faithful Bible-reading adventures, I usually read my 2nd favorite book, "My Utmost For His Highest". I'm about to finish it for the third time. It's a life-changing book you won't want to miss!

My daily practice takes an average of 1 hour per day. I meditate and pray along the way. There's no other method that quickens my ailments as much as this one. Spirituality should be our most important aim in life, even more than health. I wish to bestow this habit on to anyone who perceives it to be the right one for them.

Like I said before, there are just some habits that cannot be relinquished. Reading the Bible is the one that changed my life forever. What is your best daily habit?
