I've been running my business from home for several years and I can tell you that it is can only be easy if you have the right systems in place.
For a while, I have been thinking, "There's got to be a way to create more time for myself and my family. What should I do?" Well, I have devised multiple ways that has helped me save a fortune of my time.
These strategies work for both employees and entrepreneurs. I find that many people will tell me that they are impractical, especially since most of them cost money. However, I beg to differ.
I'll tell you what's impractical: Not being about to focus on what you do best. If you're wasting time on little things like cleaning the house and cooking food when you should be running your business and taking care of your family, this is the article for you. It's time for you to stop overworking yourself.
Here are 3 easy fixes to create more family time:
1. Hire a Housekeeper: If you put an advertisement on Craigslist.org, you can find a ton of housekeepers willing to clean your home 1-2 times per week for $8-$10 per hour. Some housekeepers will work for less if you want to pay less.
Let's say you want a housekeeper at $8 per hour twice per week for 3 hours each. (2 days x 3 hours x $8=$48) $48 per week is less than $200 per month. They'll do the kitchen, vacuum, bathroom, and wherever else you need. You just saved a ton of energy, time, and frustration.
Could you afford a housekeeper at $2,400 per year if it gave you an extra 6-10 hours per week to focus on your personal or professional goals? By the way, delegating your house cleaning will give you eight full 40-hour weeks! Oh, and a lot more time with your family!!
2. Order Food: A common family question is "what do you guys want for dinner tonight?" Most families don't know what to say because they usually eat the same things. Some kids may want to eat different foods too. Why not switch it up and order some food from your local restaurant and please everyone?
If you prepare a dinner in 1-2 hour, but you're worth $20-$50 for every hour you work, why not order some dinner and pick it up or have it delivered? This will save you 7-10 hours per week and a ton of energy, which can help you reach more of your goals. You can even have one of your kids pick it up (if they can drive).
Not only this, but you're save time on the dishes too. Realistically, you'll get better food, less stress, and more energy. If you order lunch, it will also be cheaper. I typically eat out 10-12 times per week. It saves time and I get to do more in my life.
3. Early Personal Development: Since there is a set-up time for everything that you do, you'll have to consider doing all of your routines early in the morning. This way, you'll be able to develop yourself before you get in contact with the world.
I used to find myself debating about when, why, and how I will be able to find time for exercise and reading. I've decided to exterminate that concern by going on 6 hours of sleep per day and developing myself in the first 4 hours of my day. I run 3 miles a day and read a book every 1 or 2 days because of this.
All it takes is an extra two hours to create a successful day for yourself. You can set your goals, get spiritual, exercise, read, and do whatever you please to get within your mind. Once you do this, you'll realize what's really important as you live the rest of your day.
If you want to do more with your life, these 3 strategies will help you create an extra 20 hours in your week. Is 20 hours important to you and your family? Instead of worrying about the little things, start doing big things. The cost of doing it is significantly less than the cost of not doing it. Plus, you'll be a lot more successful in return.
